Week 4 Movie/Series Angles
Manifest:
One of reasons that I chose this series is because of the Sci/fi aspects. This is a series that represents a cool storyline of an airplane that disappears and then comes back 10 years in the future. Families have grown-up without their mothers and fathers and then they come back with their kids already grown up without them. Then the FBI and CIA look into the case of the missing flight that magically came back and then things start to get heated.
This is considered an eye level shot which can demonstrate feelings of emotion or a sense of closeness towards the main characters. In this specific shot it represents a possible event of disruption or a shot which shows fear or doubt. This is by the one of the main characters and shows how shocked he is to see an event or person (Don't want to spoil). Mostly this shot is used to convey a sense of fear within all of the character(s) in this scene. But also, it can show sometimes happiness or prevail when looking back/forward to something in the scene.
In this shot it is considered to be a wide angle shot or also known as a full shot. Within this scene you can see a wider angle that you can see a full view of the people and area of the surrounding environment. Specifically, this is a shot that shows emphasis on emotions but also levels out the viewer with the characters on screen. This can represent less importance of the characters themselves, however, it could expose the reason for the environment and world around the main characters. This scene can expose a big event or something of massive importance happening which in this case shows the airplane that these passengers soon rode in.
This would be an example of a close up shot or an extreme close up shot. Now this is not necessarily a extreme close up however, it does show aspects of emotion and tenseness. This is shot in the middle of an argument between one of the main characters and a form of a "sidekick character" but not exactly. Emotions expressed by this shot can represent more of an importance to the character in the shot, where it blurs out any other character and any other surroundings around this character. Any other character in this position is created more of a less important character and so it makes a "vacuum" type of effect. This isolates everything else except for the character in the main view.
I believe that this would be a low angle shot which is an example of how the viewer is angled lower than the main character in this scene and shows a number of emotions and importance. It looks like in this scene that this character has exposed himself to his new powers. Mostly with these types of shots, you can see how the character can seem more powerful and has a lot more strength to him. In certain movies/series low angle shots can make the viewer less powerful and so it creates a sense of uncertainty as well. Meaning, that anything can happen at that point. This can be either a character losing his/her power or a character slowly gaining power or getting stronger.
This would be a birds eye view. An example of this is the showing of the environment from a higher point of view then the characters themselves which makes it seem like the people in the shot are less significant then the viewer. This can create a feeling of stress or build up to the next scene mostly because of the transitions that usually come after the birds eye view. In this scene you don't know what might happen because you almost see a more scientific point of view where there is quarantine tents and so it creates more of a build up between the viewer and the show itself.
