Movie Opener Brainstorming and Research
Rise:
The camera angles during this clip were very well thought out. The feeling of being immersed into the film opener itself, helps the audience visualize what is happening and the overall importance of it. This film opener also explains the daily life of the character. The music is also very significant because it is an example of diegetic sound. As the character lifts his headphones off of his ears, the music starts to fade out. Towards the ending of the film opener, it leaves it off of cliff hanger with a massive stare off between our two character.
Dear Lover:
Music and setting are both romantic yet unnerving. On top of that both the camera angles and lighting I felt were very poor and could have used a little more detail. Diegetic sound was not in use instead it was a voiceover that contributed to most of the storyline in this film opener.
Dare to Thrill:
From the beginning there is a thrilling sense of adventure. You can say that this is because of party scene within the opening credits of the film opener. Camera angles of the car rolling down the highway were also one of my favorite parts of this whole film. The trunk scene was unpredictable and was a shocker and does add a form of cliff hanger. It was one of my favorite openers.
Always Watching:
I feel like the high key music does in the end make suspense however, I do feel like this darkness was not very present and so it did not help with the horror aspect.
The Blue Boar:
Both the outfits and the music do make the times feel like it is back when these were always present (Time period). The lip-sync is a little off with the music playing.
White Coat:
This video was very dark. I could barely see what was going on in most of the scenes and really all I can see is a beaker but not actually the guy himself. There was no dialogue but there were diegetic sounds of pouring a liquid.
Stalker:
There is almost no noise with this whole video. There is few spots where horror music does play however, because of the lack of dialogue or any sounds previously it makes it almost weird to hear. You can't feel any true emotion because of the lack of set up, and maybe it could have used some music or dialogue throughout.
Nostalgia:
The transitions were very nice however, there were some confusion about the paintings and the significance of them to this lady. Most of the camera angles are examples of close shots and are not very important to the rest of this film opener. The ending was very confusing of what was happening. Why was there a little girl if we were not introduced with her earlier?
Summary:
In an overall grading of this batch of film openers. I have to say that the best would have to be Rise or Dare To Thrill. This is just because of the camera angles and the very clean transitions that just make it so immersive. Making the person almost feel like they are part of the actual film opener.
